Sinister 2

For those horror junkies including myself...Sinister 2 was pretty good.  I mean let's be honest, Hollywood just doesn't make horror flicks like back in the day, but then again it's difficult to create something that has already been done.  There has been so many movies based on the "urban legend" of the so called "boogieman" that it's difficult to come up with another version and story that's going to keep you on the edge of your feet throughout the entire movie.  I will say the characters that they create to scare us, such as the Bughuul (the boogieman in Sinister), are getting more scary and the gory scenes are getting more gory.  But the fact is we have seen them all.   So we are prepared for the scary parts and can anticipate what's going to happen. But sometimes, in a movie like this, they can get you!  So with that said, if you like gore, a decent story line, the supernatural, and being both on the edge of your seat and jumping a few times...go check out Sinister 2.  And you don't need to watch the first one to follow the story.
